Diet

I'm following a 100% whole food diet called Whole9, which consists of 9 food groups:
  • fruits
  • vegetables
  • nuts
  • seeds
  • healthy fats and oils (like avocados, olives, coconut)
  • eggs
  • fish
  • chicken
  • meat
Most of the time I don't feel like eating any fish, chicken or meat and I follow the vegetarian version.

I actually started eating this way two months before I received my diagnosis. I was looking for a solution to the fatigue I had been feeling for over a year.  Interestingly, when my mother was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, she said that looking back the only sign she had was unexplained fatigue.

I credit this diet with keeping my lab results fabulous and my mood stable.  The most important features are the complete absence of sugar, starches of any kind, alcohol and dairy.  I don't even want these things anymore.

My acupuncturist gave me this recipe for Magic Mineral Broth and my neighbor very kindly made it for me.  She bought the Kombu (dried seaweed) from an asian store.  The broth tastes great on its own and I've also used it as a base for other soups.

Here's a great recipe for a basic vegetable soup by David Murdock, "the billionaire who is planning his 125th birthday."
